Located south of Flagstaff and north of Phoenix, Sedona has one of the most beautiful settings of any city in the United States, set as it is amid the stark red-rock buttes of the surrounding desert. The city of Sedona is made up of four main communities and Sedona also features a number of interesting districts and neighborhoods.

Each community in Sedona offers something special, including excellent shopping and dining, as well as some quality historical attractions. Here are Sedona's main districts, neighborhoods and areas.




Sedona Locations and Districts: Boynton Canyon - Sedona, Arizona (AZ), USA
A narrow red-rock canyon and also the site of Sinagua cliff dwellings, which can still be seen in places, Boynton Canyon is one of Sedona's premier sightseeing areas. The upmarket Enchantment resort is also situated here and the famed Boynton Canyon Trail runs through the area.


Sedona Locations and Districts: Oak Creek - Sedona, Arizona (AZ), USA
Also known as the Chapel area, Oak Creek is a self-contained village loaded with excellent shopping and dining options. Located in the south of Sedona, the bustling Tlaquepaque village is also located in Oak Creek and there are more than a few art galleries and museums here. Fine dining incorporates well-known restaurants, such as the Grill at Shadow Rock. Many natural attractions in this area are within each reach of central Sedona, including the Bell Rock, the Courthouse Butte and the stately Two Nuns formation, while the Chapel of the Holy Cross is the area's best-known landmark.

Sedona Locations and Districts: Uptown Sedona District - Sedona, Arizona (AZ), USA
The Uptown Sedona district is home to many of the city's most rewarding manmade attractions. These include the Sedona Arts Center, with its school and art gallery, and the Sedona Heritage Museum, which houses numerous photographs and vintage orchard equipment. Uptown is also one of the premier areas in the city for outstanding accommodation, and the European-style L'Auberge de Sedona is in this area, along with the popular Cowboy Club.

Sedona Locations and Districts: Tlaquepaque - Sedona, Arizona (AZ), USA
Named after an arts neighborhood in Guadalajara, Mexico, Tlaquepaque was built to resemble a Mexican village and features dozens of restaurants and shops. The area is close to central Sedona and is a delightful spot for strolling, with its courtyards and collections of narrow alleys, and is the place to come if you are interested in buying art.

Sedona Locations and Districts: West Sedona District - Sedona, Arizona (AZ), USA
The West Sedona district is a favorite area among residents and visitors alike, with its many shops and restaurants. Growing all the time, star attractions in the West Sedona district include the Cultural Park and Visitor Center, which features 50 acres / 20 hectares of landscaped beauty, and the new Georgia Frontiere Performing Arts Pavilion. Red Rock State Park is only a short drive from West Sedona, where the awesome Red Rock Crossing offers endless photo opportunities.
