Sedona is a remote city in central Arizona, between Flagstaff and Phoenix. Straightforward to reach with a range of public transport and travel options, Sedona also features its own small airport, which receives flights from Phoenix-Sky Harbor International Airport. Shuttle transport travels from the airport into nearby Sedona, together with taxis.
Two major highways provide road access into Sedona from the north and south, and there is an interstate highway nearby. Although trains and Greyhound buses do not travel directly to Sedona, they run as far as Flagstaff, which is only 25 miles / 40 km to the north. Local bus transport serves Sedona from Flagstaff and provides an inexpensive way to travel around much of the area.

Although Sedona has its own airport, Phoenix-Sky Harbor International Airport is usually the point of entry for most visitors to Sedona. Located in the city center, it is one of the busiest airports in the country, with more than 1,000 daily flights with major airlines. Convenient transport into Sedona is provided by the Sedona Phoenix Shuttle, which operates throughout the day, while I-17 and Highway 179 are the quickest routes for those who choose to drive the remaining journey.

Located just south of the town center, Sedona Airport receives limited traffic from regional airports, but is the most convenient way to travel here for those with bigger budgets. Taxis provide transport to the city center and hotels from outside the airport. The Airport Road and Highway 89A run to downtown from Sedona Airport.

Hire cars from major car rental transport companies are available at both airports, including Enterprise and Practical Rent-a-Car at Sedona. Jeeps are also available from Farrabee Jeep Rentals of Sedona, or alternatively you can rent a Harley from Red Rock Motorcycles in town, although don't expect bargain prices. Sedona is only a few miles west of the Flagstaff - Phoenix I-17, with Highway 89A providing direct travel from the north and Highway 179 from the south.

Greyhound Lines buses travel to Flagstaff from a number of major cities in the US, although they don't run to Sedona. The Flagstaff Bus Station is located at 399 South Malpais Lane and is open 24-hours a day. Local bus companies operate various tours in the Sedona region and a limited public bus service is available, servicing Uptown Sedona and the Gallery area from 09:00 to 18:45 every day. Inter-city bus transport also provides travel to and from nearby Cottonwood.

Sedona's nearest rail station is at Flagstaff, with Amtrak providing a regular service to Flagstaff from southern, eastern and western destinations.
